My name is Heather Rusk and for many years I have worked with horse humans to transform their relationships and experiences with horses. I felt that I needed to do something more practical to help integrate the work and support the horses more directly, so I began doing body work. I have watched horses with chronic conditions and injuries and felt powerless when none of the medical treatments available to them helped. I have watched the horse’s human unaware there was even a problem and not even want or seek out help. I have watched equine athletes with tense bodies and pain in their faces continue to do their jobs, just because they are that amazing, not because they are comfortable. Everything a horse does for us including interacting in a kind way is a gesture of generosity to us. I wanted to find something that would help me to give back to them, the incredible kind regard they have shown me over and over again.

There are many holistic modalities that are very good, but Equi-Bow is the one I found myself particularly drawn to. It uses Bowen, Cranio Sacral among other things and combines them. I am also a Certified Sure Foot Practitioner. I have been using energetic and consciousness based healing and education for almost 20 years. I do use some other modalities myself, including high quality, therapeutic grade Essential Oils.
I consider myself a life long learner and there is nothing more exciting than creating new experiences for myself. I didn’t always, but I now consider it an advantage to have come to horses as an adult. I bring with me very few preconceived notions about training, behaviour and horsekeeping.
I love to explore these principles as experiences through my work and my life. I now spend my time developing relationship and communication with the horses and other animals I know, listening to what they have to say and integrating that into the vision of the world I want to create….from the inside out. I also mentor equine professionals to work through energetic perception and develop communication that is clear and accurate. I facilitate support groups and one on one healing sessions with both horse and human.

Horses came into my life as a regular experience more than ten years ago.  I had enrolled my kids into riding lessons at a local Hunter barn and I realized while watching their lesson one day it was the best hour of my week.  I began taking riding lessons the next week and that has been it for me, hooked on horses.

Prior to horses, I had been training and working for years in the world of energy psychology and energy medicine.  It didn’t take long for me to begin to merge these two parts of my life.  My passion is to help create a sustainable world and I believe to do that we must be sustainable within ourselves first.   When  most people think about sustainability they think of renewable energy.   Renewable energy is a very small part of what a sustainable world is about.  To me, sustainability is about unity and experiencing the interconnectedness of all things.

I have always had animals in my life.  We have two dogs, a cat and two horses.  One of the dogs is a Potcake  from Bahamas.  She is a total sweetheart, but retains some trauma from her previous life on the streets.  The other is a Papillon.  Both dogs are actively involved in equine management at the barn, and they love their jobs.  Our cat came home with my daughter from a friend's barn.  She was a tiny kitten abandoned by her mother.   I volunteer at the local Humane Society as a dog walker to help those doggies with their stress levels while they are waiting for a new home.

"Heather is a spiritually grounded practical teacher.  She is serious about her work to bring a new way of learning, healing and being into full expression in her own life and assisting others to do the same.  She is focused and keenly tuned into her students and the information.  Her teaching style is clear and organized, practical and hands on.  Her students experience multidimensional learning  and have the opportunity to expand their knowledge through that direct experience.   I have enjoyed working with Heather to bring this new learning method to groups in my community."   Sue D.
